Yoga Teacher Influences:
Larry Schultz aka the “Rocket Man” of It’s Yoga Studio had a profound impact on my yoga practice. When I walked into Larry’s studio for the first time in 2000 I knew I had found my teacher. His approach called “The Rocket” emphasized the power of consistency, breath and discipline, encouraging me to find my edge. Soon I was jumping into handstand in the middle of the room and became “handstand Jen” by Larry. Larry’s blend of traditional Ashtanga with a playful, open-minded attitude gave me permission to explore yoga with curiosity and freedom. Larry often said “you are stronger than you think you are”, or referred to yoga as the “magic elixir.” His way of teaching made me want to come back to my mat again and again. Here I am 25 years later and am so thrilled to be able to share this “magic elixir” with you.
I was also fortunate enough to be led by some of the greatest yoga teachers during the time I worked at Yoga Journal. Yoga Journal would put on 3-4 yoga conferences every year, which allowed me to be taught by some of the greats - Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Baron Baptiste, David Swenson, Rodney Yee, and Jason Crandell to name a few.
Yoga has transformed my life and I am thrilled to be able to give that back to my students in the way of guiding them through their practice.
